THE BRIEF
OUR RESPONSE
Investigating the relationship between Identity and Fashion within a personal area of interest. Coming together as a team to work on collating personal data into a harmonious outcome for an exhibition.
Combining our teams fashion interests Stripes, Cargos, Knitwear, Monochrome and Dungarees, we found that the underlying relationship between these pieces was their origin of utility reflecting their initial functional purposes.

Our final exhibition piece, a series of photographs explores function in its' literal sense. Taking a surrealist approach to the composition of the piece, conveys how the relationship between function and fashion has been lost due to their development into trends. With day to day, useful items being replaced by fashion garments, the aim is to reflect the functional origin of the clothing and look past the trends they are today. We chose to display these photographs on a washing line to reinforce the functional ideology behind our outcome.
